Rock music, often often referred to as “rock’n'roll” is a sort of music that became popular in the 1950s in America and Europe. Rock music is based on older musical styles , for example the rhythm and blues music originated by Afro-American performers like Chuck Berry and Tiny Richard, with a heavy concentrate on guitar, drums, and dynamic vocals. One of the earliest and most famed performers during the early days of rock music was Elvis Presley, who surprised the world with his suggestive dancing and strong music. He became a rapid phenomenon, and led the way for lots of other rock music performers over the years to come. In the 1960s, the Beatles were another exceedingly successful and favored rock music group, also electrified by rhythm and blues songs and by the work of other early Brit rock music performers ,eg Cliff Richard. Over time, rock music has branched out into a wide selection of styles. Folks rock music , for example that made very popular by Bob Dylan in the 1960s, frequently featured acoustic guitars and socially conscious words, many with anti-war sensibilities. Hallucinatory rock music ,eg that played by the Thankful Dead, Pink Floyd, and the Doors, featured regularly dissonant music that was influenced significantly by the utilisation of drugs like LSD.

Progressive rock music bands , for example the Moody Blues, Rush, and Yes, experimented with a large range of instruments, and regularly included improvisational musical solos that would last for ten or maybe twenty mins.Rock music in addition has led the way for other music forms ,eg heavy metal, which features extreme guitar sound and heavy distortion. Some of the earliest bands that might be catalogued as heavy metal are Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

Both bands began in the mid-1970s. Their heavy kind of rock music has lead the way for other heavy metal bands, including Metallica and Megadeth. Today, the term “rock music” is used to refer to a good range of musical forms, including anything from soft pop to heavy metal. Rock music has fundamentally become a default term for any musical style that doesn’t mechanically fit into another class , for example RB, country, or classical. The form has changed noticeably since the times of Elvis Presley, but the term “rock music” can still refer to his songs as simply as they may make reference to more contemporary bands like Nirvana or Pearl Jam.
